Lord of Heroes – Battle Guide for Beginners

Last Updated on 01.04.2024

Lord of Heroes is a striking project in the action RPG genre from the studio Clover Games, with stunning anime-style graphics. The developers offer players not only to take on the role of Lord Avillon, lead a squad of legendary heroes and save the fallen world, but also to return it to light and hope for a great future!

The action of Lord of Heroes takes place in the enchanted universe of the popular webtoon series UnOrdinary. You are the rightful monarch of the Kingdom of Avillon and leader of all national heroes and warriors. Take charge of a land ravaged by war and watch the game’s story unfold in gorgeous 3D clips inspired by Asian anime.

The game has an outstanding visual design, but in terms of gameplay it is pretty standard. It has a turn-based combat system, as well as several gameplay mechanics that you need to be aware of in order to win. Also, unlike other games in the gacha genre, where your goal is to collect strong characters, this game is all about summoning and collecting weapons, armor, and artifacts. In that respect, Lord of Heroes is a little different from what you’re used to seeing in other gacha games.

In general, if you want to succeed in this game, you have a lot to learn. That’s what we’ll talk about in this beginner’s guide. In it, you will find everything you need to win the battles of Lord of Heroes.

Different types of characters

There are many characters in Lord of Heroes that you can unlock as you progress through the game. It also has characters that you can get for fulfilling contracts or buying them for premium currency. This is important to understand because

Since there are no character recruitment mechanics in this game. Instead, you can try to unlock special equipment that significantly increases the characteristics of any character in the game.

Regardless of how you get it, each hero falls into one of five categories that determine their role in battle.

Let’s start with the Guardians: these are your average tank characters. These heroes often have many defensive skills at their disposal, including provocations, buffs, and sometimes even self-healing to withstand the strongest attacks. It goes without saying that these are the characters that hold enemies down and absorb the most damage. They rarely attack themselves.

Warriors are a class with a balance between attack and defense. They can withstand a ton of damage, and also deal a fair amount of damage. Despite their high defense numbers, they lack the defensive skills of the Guardians, so if you want to use Warriors as tanks, you’ll need to customize them to do so.

Next on the list are Strikers, who are the strongest melee attacking heroes. While these characters are weak in defense, they more than compensate for this shortcoming with colossal damage. They can and should still be used on the front lines, just don’t expect them to have the same damage absorption capabilities as Warriors or Guardians.

The next two classes are usually at the back of the group. Clerics are your dedicated helpers, able to heal, enhance, and inflict many different beneficial effects on the group. Some of them can do a bit of damage, but that’s not their first priority. Snipers, on the contrary, are the strongest characters in the game. They do tremendous damage, and sometimes they can put debilitating effects on your opponents. Keep them away from the front line, as they are incredibly weak in close combat and can’t take much damage.

A good player will always try to find a balance between the different classes. Of course the game has meta characters and their builds, but you don’t need to pay attention to this at an early stage. Try to create a successful group yourself, and you’ll be able to get through the game’s storyline with ease. Just make sure you always have at least one tank and healer.

The course of the battle and the interaction of the elements

Now let’s talk about the battles. The battles in Lord of heroes have certain rules.

Battles are divided into turns. The order of the turns is determined by the bar below the life (HP) bar of the character. Each time a character in battle performs an action, this bar becomes empty and gradually fills up. Once it is full, the character can perform the action again. This is important because some characters are faster than others, which affects how quickly the lane fills up. Some characters may even make several moves, while others have this bar filled for one.

However, the point of combat is not to constantly choose the strongest attacks. To inflict maximum damage, you have to consider the elemental interaction between the attacker and his target.

Similar to the five different classes of heroes, there are five elements. Each character possesses one of them. These elements are Fire, Earth, Water, Light and Darkness. This is important to know because some elements have increased or decreased damage against others.

  • Fire is strong against Earth, but weak against Water.
  • Earth is strong against Water, but weak against Fire.
  • Water is strong against Fire, but weak against Earth.

The other two elements, Light and Darkness, are outside this “Rock-Paper-Scissors” triangle. They are strong and weak in relation to each other. Mastering them is especially important, as it can give a decisive advantage when fighting the strongest bosses.

Assists and explosive skills

The last two points about fighting in Lord of Heroes that you should consider are assists and explosive skills.

Assists are passive follow-up attacks that either of your characters can perform after attacking another hero. It is a completely random action.

The more health the target has, the more likely the assists are.

Explosive skills can be used if you have a sufficiently charged morale bar, which is filled by performing basic attacks. These attacks can be very powerful and vary from character to character. If you have a sufficiently charged morale scale, you can chain several explosive skills to further enhance the effect. An explosive chain can help destroy even the strongest enemies.
